I stop short at ‘reinventing’ myself. Don’t even know what that expression means. But I do need to do something. Urgently.
Much to my hilarity my prose being rather opaque has been likened to James Joyce. Leaving aside my own feelings on James Joyce (I don’t have any) I take this as a compliment of the highest order. Should you never hear from me again look no further than my wake or maybe the sirens will have got me in a case of mistaken identity.

I don’t remember ever reading James Joyce. I think I read Ulysses a long time ago.
Here’s where David should enter in.

Yes, Cynthia, David has gone rather mute all round. Maybe he has just had it with us imbeciles.

Maybe you shouldn’t be so concerned abut reinventing yourself. How about simply inventing yourself moment by moment. That would make like very interesting…

Inventing myself moment by moment, Lorna? Sounds like hard work to me. I’ll just coast along my good well worn and resilient self. Though am considering having the ends of my long hair cut. You can’t trust hairdressers. You ask them to take off max 1 cm and, being British, they don’t do metric and will take off an inch (2.5 cm). Male hairdressers in particular are willful and do unmentionable things. Inspired by you I shall, one day – like never – write the story of my life by hairdresser. As a precaution – once I am back in the money – I shall book myself in for extensions rather than a short cut. I have cheek bones and a square jaw so short short is a no no for me. Unless I want to look hideous. Hope I won’t be buried with a mirror.
How do you do it, Lorna? I laugh even when just responding to a comment of yours.
