Choose your friends wisely. Particularly when given to fainting.

It will, immeasurably, add to my mystique that I can now claim that one of my correspondents, BHB, close to my heart, let her cat out ca 2 in the morning; the cat, half way up the tree, consequently eaten by a coyote. How romantic is that? Anyone can go all Little Red Riding Hood, out in the woods, with her little basket, and ask the wolf in bed and in granny’s clothing: “Why are your arms so hairy?” To have your cat devoured by a coyote raises the stakes.

Hope the cat was fat.

  1. I see that you don’t live in coyote territory. They don’t climb trees. So cat was eaten BEFORE she got to the tree.

We had a tree that grew in our entry garden by the front door. High walls were around garden so tree wasn’t getting enough sun & wasn’t doing so well. We cut it down. In the middle of the night I heard our cat hissing loudly. She was standing on the stump & a coyote was ready to get her. Coyote left & cat came in the house. I saved her & she got many more years to tease coyotes at night, before she couldn’t run as fast as they could.

  2. P.S. We leaned the trunk of the tree against the house so cat could still use that tree.
