Safety in numbers

Can I go to the dentist instead? Please. That way my mouth will be wide open and my voice rendered silent.

And remember: Just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean you don’t have reason to be.

Hugs and silent kisses,

  1. What have you done now?

    • I haven’t done anything, John. That’s the problem. For which I have been fined. Once more that most awful law has been proven that ignorance (or taking your eyes off the ball for a moment) does not exempt you from getting your knuckles wrapped. And you can be the most charming orator in the world with reasoning to make the sun blush, the moon fall off its perch: The law is the law. Ain’t it? Sometimes I wish punishment be meted in relation to the crime.

Wish I were a sheep (with my belly full of future raspberries) and your choice curses, John, in one ear and out the other.

  2. The eye doctor he said, “Open wide.” I opened my mouth wide. Shows how much I go to the dentist.

    • I like that, Cynthia.

I too am getting increasingly scatterbrained – or at least pretend to. I haven’t been to the dentist in a while (must be the horse in me) but when I do I shall think of you, keep my mouth shut and say “X A D L”.

  3. The only thing I’m paranoid about is politicians. They’re always dreaming up some cunning new scheme that’s going to exploit and disadvantage the rest of us. I have no problem with dentists or opticians….

    • I wouldn’t get paranoid about politicians. It could happen to any of us: Stand. Get elected. Hold your breath. Upright today, down the moral drain tomorrow. Unnoticed. In good faith. Which is one of the reasons I believe Obama looking increasingly bewildered as to what happened to his good intentions.

Neither do I believe that politicians, individually, dream up cunning schemes to exploit any of us (as you put it). One of the (to me) most fascinating insights that individuals will dance to quite a different tune and code when on their own than when in a group. Which, of course, history has proven again and again and again. Being part of a ‘gang’ (whether government, the army, or your football club) often appears to suspend the individual’s moral code. Instead running with the crowd.

And the moment a politician gets sucked into what I call the ‘machine’ they are a cog. Get lost/replaced or do your bit for the wheel. Remember the three monkeys, Nick: Blind, mute and deaf?

One of the biggest compliments ever paid to me: I wouldn’t have lasted in politics for five minutes. For more reasons than one.

  4. You can alway come on over to my place, U. Silence is welcomed and never questioned. 🙂
