Don’t apologize for your existence

Am (not) easily put off.

Would people writing please stop putting in disclaimers like “I wouldn’t write this article” followed by the inevitable ‘but’ – and proceeding regardless. Fucking write what you have to say without unnecessary intros. Either you have to say something or you don’t.

Greetings from the editor,

U

  1. I apologize for the brief response, but that was spot on!

  2. Reluctant as I am to say this, I feel I should point out that some people comment on your blog with a degree of trepidation that can only be salved with the use of a disclaimer preceding their comment. Actually, I am beginning to regret writing this comment for fear of instant retribution but, what the hell!

    But
    I couldn’t be arsed

  4. My marriage counselor once told me that any set of words preceding the ill-fated “but” is canceled out. Example: I love that outfit, but I think the shirt is a little inappropriate for a family gathering.

    • Lorna, there is a whole catalogue of ‘intros’ which has alarm bells ringing. ‘But’ – and I do it though have put myself on a diet – the most thoughtlessly overused one. One of my pet hates when people say “To be honest”. What the f…? Do you expect me to be lied to? I thought it was a given to be honest. Will try and compile list of what not to say. Just spit it out.

That you do not dress appropriately for a family gathering does not surprise me in the least.
