“Not every problem does have a simple bookkeeper’s solution based on cost.”

Which is why I sign off my current (official) correspondence with

I remain disgusted yours,

…… ….

  1. I assume you are referring to economic cost. I tend to think of personal, social, emotional, and other kinds of costs, which I suppose a bookkeeper would have a harder time tallying. But that does not make them any less real.

    • Yes, Lorna, you are right: I do mainly refer to ‘economic cost’. With which come others – the very ones you are referring to, ie ‘personal, social, emotional’ and, dare I say, possibly taking a toll on ones health.

The real tragedy for me is my son witnessing something no son should. His previously so capable mother paddling like mad. Luckily = through his own sheer hard work – he is economically totally independent – but what a burden I am on his peace of mind. There are moments I hate myself for what I perceive as the one failure of my life.

      • OMG U. You are my role model. Do as that guy did on Sat. Night Live. Look in the mirror & tell yourself how wonderful you are. This comment deserves a smily face tho’ we know it’s better to express yourself & not rely on those. LOVE you.

      • I know what you mean regarding imploding (emotionally, not literally, which would be a total mess) in front of my son and having him watch his mother scrape herself off the floor. At least these young men of ours know that we are human.

  2. When we think of the tornados, floods, terrorism, wars we have it so easy. But thinking doesn’t solve our everyday problems.

Off the subject –There’s a lesson I still need to learn. Remembering my brother when 3, saying “We do it we way & they do it they way.” My way is the best of course.

    • Reminds me of Frank Sinatra – a person I never took to, even when he was still alive.

Can’t remember now, I think it was during a convention in Cairo and one of our colleagues was insufferable to some of the team in charge. Being the boss’s wife, and being me in any event, it was all water off my duck’s back. However the adorable Gillian thought otherwise. Whenever “insufferable” was in ear shot mischievous Gillian would hum and/or sing, cue Sinatra, “… let’s do it my way”. Poor insufferable never got the joke. In fairness she was good at her job.

  3. Surely, it should be “disgustedly yours’?

    • Trust me, Ramana. In this instance it’s disgusted.

In the meantime I remain, not disgusted, yours,
