I could have also named this post, which I did by accident, “Thyme, season and dense”. Same difference.

Working in research rarely delivers surprises.

I started a blog post with the above one sentence a couple of days ago, only to abandon it as, no doubt, the phone rang or something. Flow diverted like water by a dam.

“Working in research rarely delivers surprises”. Well, you could have fooled me but I take my word for it.

Please do let me know if you ever find yourself in mysterious snake pits of your own thinking’s not so easily negotiated labyrinth.

  1. Stumped. I not quite sure I understand the post. It has been too long since I was out with the snakes.

    • Flummoxed, are you, Looney? Good. I feel so much better now.

  3. No. I’m way too simple minded for that.

    • I knew you’d say that. Not because you are predictable. Not at all. Because I am slowly getting to know you.

“Simple minded”? Pull the other one, Jean. I’d say you do like to simplify things. Big difference.

  4. is this a bit like: “So I’ve opened this door, passed through and into said space/room… now what the dickens did I come in here for?” Or “I’m said room, I pick up something, go out and back into another room, and realise, ‘oh this isn’t what I needed…'” (btw, apparently the problem isn’t caused by your memory but by the “doors” themselves)

    • Oh my goodness, Catherine. Hot tip of the day. How original, and why didn’t I think of it: “… problem caused by the doors themselves”. That’s bloody brilliant. Maybe I should take all my doors off their hinges (literally and figuratively speaking). Also lessens dangers of bumping into one. Black eye … and all.
