Bitch on the Blog

Some of you use (blogger? by another name). It’s exhausting (for the commentator) trying to leave a comment.

By way of last example, just now I wrote a rather lengthy reply to Shackman’s take on chores. Yes, I then tick I am NOT a robot. Then I jump hoops. “Please tick all boxes with streetsigns/shopfronts/mountains, trees/water” – you take your pick. This goes on ad nauseam. I do have patience. Even mine is not infinite. Eventually, when I run out of it, as I just did, I exit. Let the comment, feedback, evaporate into ether. So, Shackman and others, thanks for saving myself from myself. I had written a most informative and personal reply – but suppose some things we best keep to ourselves.

  1. I find it frustrating too but I don’t give up. It eventually works!

    • It’s not only frustrating, Ramana. It’s unnecessary.

On the other hand, and I find it amusing, the longer I have to jump through those hoops, the more time I have to reflect on what I wrote, the less worthy of publishing I deem it. Thus, eventually, it comes easy to me to just abandon the whole caboodle. One of these days I’ll sound like a L’Oreal advert (hair products) in reverse: “Because it ain’t worth it”.

  2. Well, I went and had a look at said post and left a comment. NO Problem at all. In fact it recognised me straight away. However, everytime I come to comment here I have to register with a name and a password.
    Odd I call it.

    • I wish you had told me before. I had no idea.

As far as I am aware wordpress only requires a password when a post is marked private (which I don’t). And even then I’d be the one to give out the password. Will look into it.

      Sorry for any inconvenience.

      • No worries… I’d rather things were at least nominally secure than not….. I have a feeling that many of my settings have changed of late. I have to Log in to my email account and to other sites….

  3. As I have said before, I ofyen have issues posting here. Thde only blog tht ever offered as many isus was thatdamn circus clam thing but as we no longer communicate in any way shape or form, I havenot tried in quite some time. Interestingly, as long as I use Microsoft Edge commenting here is easy.

    • I am so sorry, Shackman. As I said to Magpie, I will look into it. I myself have never had problems with other wordpress bloggers. In fact I thought wordpress the most userfriendly. One stands to be corrected.

Who is the “circus clam”? Or should I guess?

      Will try again.

  4. I’m not a fan of wordpress but thats just because I have an account with blogger and it knows who I am.
I think the ease of commenting is often dependent on the settings placed there by the owner. Anyways Ursula, please keep commenting, I like your lack of bullshit and I’m gradually learning to understand your unique presentation

    • I won’t “stop commenting”, don’t you worry. Sometimes I wish I could. But it’s not in my nature not to throw my penny’s worth into the pond.

What a great compliment you paid me “… lack of bullshit”. Thanks, Kylie. Maybe a fitting epitaph.
